The annual meeting of the United Gamefowl Breeders Association is a great opportunity to meet gamefowl enthusiasts from all over the country and to participate in directing the focus of the organization. Although the UGBA would like to focus exclusively on poultry health issues and marketing, a significant effort is underway to fight the radical animal rights extremists. The groups are exploiting the general lack of knowledge about the strong economic benefits and cultural importance that the gamefowl industry provides for rural communities.
The UGBA has undertaken this massive challenge by employing a top lobbyist in Washington DC and filing a federal lawsuit against the unconstitutional gamefowl transport ban. No other organization has the strength to tackle these problems. UGBA representatives have traveled extensively to attend and speak at meetings concerning disease surveillance programs, organizational meetings for other gamefowl groups, and the ongoing battles we face across the Nation. The annual meeting will be a unique opportunity to learn about the issues, have your voice heard and your vote counted as we push forward to preserve our rights to own and show our gamefowl. |
