The USDA "Biosecurity for the Birds" campaign was established to educate bird owners about biosecurity, provide tips on how to recognize two particular diseases of concern: Exotic Newcastle Disease (END) and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), and urge bird owners to rapidly report sick birds.
To reach the target audience, USDA is working closely with:
State Departments of Agriculture
USDA's Cooperative Extension Service
Private veterinarians
Informational materials on the topics of biosecurity, END, and HPAI have been created for this campaign and are available electronically in the Resources section of the USDA biosecurity website. Also provided in the Resources section is a directory of Federal and State Veterinary Offices organized by State.
Visit the USDA Biosecurity for the Birds website for more details.
